Maybe it's just parenthood, maybe it's being told you have a finite time to live (but not a TRUE expiration date, just the threat of one), maybe it's having a kid later in life.. no matter.. but I try to find the beauty in each moment of my life.
Creating things, events, space for adventure, all those things are priorities to me.
Call me crazy, but the best times are the ones where we just are together with family or friends, doing something silly, laughing and enjoying the moment.
The beautiful moments.. they pass so quickly it is easy to lose sight of what is really valuable.
Here is a glimpse into the glorious yet so simple pleasures that make my heart sing and life worth living, a picture essay of the weekend.
Friday Night: Bollywood!
Belle Sam's bestest pal came over after school and joined the Indian feast/movie night with our family. On the menu? Samosas with cilantro chutney, garlic nann, green beans toran, mushrooms, raita, chia tea and of course, a green salad for me.
Here is a music video from the movie we watched.. totally fun and goofy.. and three hours LONG!
Malcolm was not impressed by
the Blue Aliens in the movie..
Belle and Sam loved dressing
up and gathered flower petals
for the table..
Saturday: Pumpkin Patch and The Great Pumpkin(s)
Our good friends the Hull Family offered to drive us all they way to Riley's Farm in Oak Glen for some old fashioned Pumpkin patch picking.
Thing 1 and Sam got along well and Thing 2 read Sam's 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' happily. Ahh, peace in a car for over an hour, it's every parents dream! My friend Kimberly and I talked crafts and PTA .. btw she is a Master Knitter, go see her wares on Esty HERE!
Quick, before she is sold out!
David, Thing 2, Thing 1 and Sam
He Got One!
A great time was had by all, even with a runaway pumpkin or two..we did pretty darn good.
Thanks Hull Family, We had a Great time!
Sunday: Rockin' The Sushi Bar
After the usual visit to The Garden aka the farmers market, Sam tried her hand at some mean guitar licks.
Later we headed off to the beach to the Sushi Gallery. My brother in law Mat is a sushi chef there.
It was a gorgeous afternoon, light breeze, sunny and lots of folks walking around.
Mat made me this veggie roll, it is called Purple Hill. I made short work of it, delish!
Warner opted for a mammoth thing called a Super Crunchy...
Sam, Uncle Mat and Warner
Thanks Mat!
Sam Loved the Crazy cool Bathroom
That's My Girl!
Night was falling.. we walked down to the ocean.. a gorgeous sunset awaited...
and we were headed home again..
Malcolm was so glad to see us!
Treasure Your Beautiful Moments Each and Every One

mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or
not to anticipate troubles, but to live in the present
moment wisely and earnestly.'
